Buckets of Blessings

Thanksgiving is a time of reflection. As a child I remember going around the table (before we were allowed to dig into the goods) and saying what we were thankful for.

This Thanksgiving I’ve been thinking about the immense blessings that are in my life. I’ve experienced bucketfuls of blessings in my lifetime. Before I dive into the turkey, I put together a small sliver of the things I am thankful for.

Family: Who care immensely. I’m thankful for the personalities of my brother, sister, mom and dad who mesh to form the cohort of my loving family.

Planes: Allowing us to quickly travel and experience different cultures and customs.

My Apartment: And the two sets of roommates I’ve had in NYC who have made my apartment feel like a home and a mini-family.

She’s the First: That a small group of passionate people can make a difference.

Change in Seasons: That winter makes me appreciate summer and spring, and that I get to feel, taste, and breathe the changes of the world around me.

Friends Who Will Always Be There: Doesn’t matter if they are live on different continent or down the street, I am thankful for the many friends who will always be the rocks in my life.

The Ability to Choose My Path: From where I wanted to go to school, where I want to live, how I want to live, and who I want to spend time with, I am thankful for the ability to choose my own path.

Challenge: For the people and situations who challenge me intellectually and personally to become a better person.

Wellness: For the people who have battled an illness or hardship, that they are persevering and are getting the support and love that they need.

Thankful for life, for the ability to feel, love, give, and enjoy.
